Graduate Grants
The Nanovic Institute provides funding and fellowships to graduate students from all fields that engage Europe and European ideas.
The institute supports graduate education through several grant programs including research, graduate fellowships, and language funding. While the Nanovic Institute accepts proposals from students with wide-ranging interests in European studies, it prioritizes the funding of applications that directly engage with one or more of its research priorities. The institute welcomes graduate student contributions to all aspects of the intellectual life of our community.

Grant Opportunities
Research Grants
The Nanovic Institute offers two graduate research grants: academic year and summer grants. These awards support a wide variety of graduate student research in Europe studies. Grants can be used to conduct research necessary for the development or completion of a thesis, dissertation, or publication. Academic year grants cannot interfere with any on-campus commitments or responsibilities.

- Winter: Wednesday, October 15, 2025
- Summer: Wednesday, March 4, 2026
Graduate Fellowship
The Nanovic Institute Graduate Fellows Program exists to bring together graduate students from all fields—from the Medieval Institute, to political science, to peace studies—that engage Europe and European ideas. Each year, a cohort of up to 10 students comes together to contribute, in various ways, to the intellectual community of the Nanovic Institute.

Advanced Language Training
The Nanovic Institute supports and encourages the study of European languages through the Center for the Study of Languages and Cultures (CSLC). For questions about the Summer Language Abroad grant, contact CSLC Assistant Director Mary Davis.
