The Nanovic Institute’s suite of undergraduate grants engage students in transformative learning beyond the classroom.
Research, internship, and language study grants connect students to the cultures and ideas that have and continue to shape Europe today. All students, regardless of their field of study, are encouraged to consider applying for Nanovic funding. Students interested in applying for funding should familiarize themselves with the Institute’s research priorities and review upcoming deadlines. The Institute offers a number of resources on grant proposal writing and research including one on one advising and a 1-credit research methods and project design course.
Fall Break 2021 Update: In light of Notre Dame International’s recently announced policies regarding international travel over fall break, the Nanovic Institute is moving to a rolling review of undergraduate grant applications for fall break with a final deadline of September 14. Students are strongly encouraged to submit proposals including faculty letters of recommendation as soon as possible.
Notre Dame International (NDI) requests that all students who are planning on or applying to travel over the fall break submit a “Fall 2021 Safety Assessment Travel Risk Management Plan” no later than the end of day September 17, 2021. This is separate from and in addition to any grant application to the Nanovic Institute. Travel approval through NDI also requires permission from a students' Dean of college or school.
Research grants support independent undergraduate research projects in Europe. Students work with a faculty advisor to develop a research question, methodology, and project design. Research projects can be exploratory in nature, but should always contribute to a students’ academic or professional goals. Grants are awarded for research taking place over fall, winter, spring, and summer breaks.
