For 30 years, the Nanovic Institute has been the cornerstone of European studies at the University of Notre Dame, working closely with students and faculty from all over the world who have a passion for European affairs, culture, and history. Established in 1992 thanks to the generosity and vision of Robert and Elizabeth Nanovic, the institute strives to make Europe visible and tangible, beyond the textbook and the classroom.

Our 30th year has been marked by current events that put this calling into sharp focus. In the 14 months since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Nanovic Institute has been a platform for communicating, analyzing, and discussing the atrocities of this unprovoked attack. As a further demonstration of solidarity, the Nanovic Institute will use ALL 2023 ND DAY PROCEEDS towards programming, research grants, and scholastic endeavors in Ukraine, about Ukraine, and with our partner, the Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv, Ukraine.
