Part of the 2022-23 Dignity and Development Conference sponsored by the Keough School of Global Affairs, this panel will explore key insights into the understanding of human dignity (and humiliation) through decisions of exemplary cases of the European Court of Human Rights. We will also explore general trends/developments/milestones in human dignity discourse throughout the history of the Court.  András Sajó, a former judge at the European Court of Human Rights (2009-17) and professor of law at Central European University in Budapest, will speak with Clemens Sedmak, director of the Nanovic Institute for European Studies and professor of social ethics.
