Location: 128 Decio (View on map )

Dr. Jason Strudler of the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency, will discuss how his education in Slavic Studies led to his career teaching, training, and researching, first at Vanderbilt University and then with the Department of Defense.

During his time with the Department of Defense, Dr. Strudler has trained servicemembers operating the “Red Telephone” between Washington and Moscow (a tool designed to reduce the risk of nuclear war). He has also researched the fates of POW/MIA American servicemembers who have gone missing in the Soviet Union and Russia.

Finally, Dr. Strudler will describe how Slavic graduates can find jobs using skills honed in humanities and language classes.

During his visit, Dr. Strudler will also meet with small groups of students to mentor them in career discernment.
