In May of 1972, 83% of Irish voters elected to join the European Union in 1973; 50 years later, many Irish still see themselves as proudly European, with approval ratings for the EU remaining near 86%.
To celebrate the golden 50th anniversary of Ireland in the EU, panelists will discuss how much this union has changed the island of Ireland. Among other topics, the panelists will speak from their unique perspectives and provide commentary on Irish culture, language, and climate, thinking about how the EU has helped to develop these areas in Ireland, and where the future could be for Ireland in the European Union.
