American Conference for Irish Studies

Location: McKenna Hall, University of Notre Dame

The 2016 National Meeting of the American Conference for Irish Studies will be hosted by the Keough-Naughton Institute for Irish Studies, the new Keough School of Global Affairs, and the University of Notre Dame.  It will take place on the University of Notre Dame’s campus in Indiana from March 30-April 3, 2016.

“The Worlding of Irish Studies” provides a theme for the 2016 American Conference for Irish Studies’ annual gathering. With Irish Studies increasingly seen through multinational eyes, this meeting will address the current placement of Ireland and Irish Studies.

The first day of the conference will feature a poetry reading by acclaimed Irish poet Sinéad Morrissey. Plenary speakers the other days include Thomas Bartlett (emeritus, University of Abderdeen), Mary Daly (University College Dublin and President of the Royal Irish Academy, David Dwan (University of Oxford), and Bríona Nic Dhiarmada, who will screen and discuss the landmark documentary 1916 The Irish Rebellion.
