May 24-26, 2015

The conference is a global collaborative venture featuring an international group of scholars, plus musical performances and workshops by Eastern Christian singers and choirs, followed by performances from students and faculty of the Notre Dame Program in Sacred Music. The conference aims to ignite worldwide support for locally based efforts to preserve and conserve these musical traditions by encouraging the remaining practitioners to adopt the framework outlined in a series of UNESCO documents for the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage.

As part of the conference "Safeguarding the Musical Traditions of Eastern Christianity," sponsored by the Notre Dame Sacred Music Program, the Nanovic Institute, and the Pontifical Oriental Institute, you are invited to a free concert at Santa Maria in Cosmedin, Rome, next Monday, 25 May at 7:30 PM.
