More than a million people flooded the streets of Paris on January 11, 2015, and were joined by more than forty political leaders to express unity after the murder of more than a dozen French citizens. What do these murders mean for Europe? What do these events mean for the world?
The panel was moderated by A. James McAdams, Director of the Nanovic Institute for European Studies and William M. Scholl Professor of International Affairs. Panelists included:
- Ebrahim Moosa, Professor of Islamic Studies and Co-Director of the Contending Modernities Initative, and fellow of the Kroc Institute
- Olivier Morel, Assistant Professor of Romance Languages and Literatures and Film, Television & Theatre, and fellow of both the Nanovic and Kroc institutes
- Elliott Visconsi, Associate Professor of English, Concurrent Associate Professor of Law, and Chief Academic Digital Officer in the Office of the Provost
- Margaret Meserve, Associate Professor of History and fellow of the Nanovic Institute.
Each participant presented roughly ten minutes of reflections. Afterwards, the floor was opened to questions from the audience. The event was free and open to the public.
