Lecture: Boris Godunov and Dmitry the Pretender: History, Poetry, Opera, Theater

A lecture on Russian poet Alexander Pushkin’s interpretation of Russia’s “Time of Troubles” (late 16th-early 17th centuries) in his play Boris Godunov, and the play’s later artistic transformations, with a focus on the work as a meditation on the morality of art.
