Lecture: "The Foreign Policy Challenges Facing the Obama Administration"

Lieutenant General Brent Scowcroft will be speaking as part of the Notre Dame International Security Program’s seminar series next Monday, April 27, on “The Foreign Policy Challenges Facing the Obama Administration”, from 4 to 6pm in the Hesburgh Center for International Studies Auditorium. The event is co-sponsored by the Notre Dame International Security Program and the Nanovic Institute for European Studies.

General Scowcroft will also sign copies of his books “America and the World: Conversations About American Foreign Policy” (2008), co-authored with Zbigniew Brzezinski and David Ignatius, and “A World Transformed” (1999), co-authored with George H.W. Bush, from 3:30 to 4:00pm outside the Hesburgh Center Auditorium. Copies of both books will be available for purchase.

General Scowcroft is currently the President of The Scowcroft Group, which he also founded. General Scowcroft served as the National Security Advisor to Presidents Gerald Ford (1974-1977) and George H.W. Bush (1989-1993). His prior twenty-nine-year military career began with graduation from West Point and concluded at the rank of Lieutenant General following service as the Deputy National Security Advisor. His Air Force service included Professor of Russian History at West Point; Assistant Air Attache in Belgrade, Yugoslavia; Head of the Political Science Department at the Air Force Academy; Air Force Long Range Plans; Office of the Secretary of Defense International Security Assistance; Special Assistant to the Director of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; and Military Assistant to President Nixon.
