East brings new life to the Western tale of Othello as it is adapted for the screen by one of Bollywood’s most promising filmmakers. The story traces one man’s unrelenting jealousy and all-consuming obsession against the backdrop of political warfare in the interiors of Uttar Pradesh. Professor Jacqueline Vaught-Brogan will introduce the film which is part of the 2008 Asian and Asian American Film Festival and Conference.
