The Department of History cordially invites you to a talk by Professor Mark Ruff of Saint Louis University entitled "Turning the other cheek? Bishop Johannes Neuhäusler's lifelong Crusade to Free Nazi War Criminals."
Professor Ruff is currently working on an edited volume on the rise and fall of Christian Democracy after 1945 and researching how guilt accusations fueled the extreme right in Germany after 1919. A recipient of fellowships from the NEH, ACLS, and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, he teaches courses on the Cold War, Nazi Germany, the two world wars, the history of liberalism, and religious history. He will become the new director of Saint Louis University's Center for Research on Global Catholicism in July 2027.
The talk takes place in Decio Hall 442 at 5:00 pm on October 7th, with a light reception to follow.
