Melanie Webb

Associate Director

As associate director, Melanie is responsible for financial oversight and planning, event design and event strategy development, operations management, and oversight of faculty appointments and visiting faculty arrangements. Melanie joined Notre Dame and the Nanovic Institute in 2011 as events coordinator, rising to events program manager, then operations assistant director, before transitioning to her current position in 2023. She was recognized for her work with the Nanovic Institute with a Team Irish Award (Fall 2022).

Melanie earned a bachelor’s degree in film and video studies from the University of Michigan, spending her junior year at the University of Kent, Canterbury, England. As a student she explored Europe by rail, staying in youth hostels and enjoying the company of other young travelers along the way. She enjoyed a 20-year career in broadcasting before coming to Notre Dame. Her passion is interior design; she earned a certificate from Ivy Tech and worked for a year in a textiles showroom at Chicago’s Merchandise Mart. She is married, an aunt to many, and mom to one needy adopted bernedoodle.
