In the spring of 2020, Pietro Robert Goisis, a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst living in Milan, Italy, contracted and was hospitalized with the coronavirus. This is a rich and moving personal reflection on his experience, accompanied by images of a city in lockdown by Milanese artist Davide Pizzigoni. 

Originally published in Italian, the piece was translated into English by Nanovic Faculty Fellow Ingrid Rowland, a professor in the University of Notre Dame's School of Architecture, Rome. The story first appeared on the Nanovic website in May 2020.
