Claire Shannon Kelly

Claire Shannon Kelly is the Artistic Director of Shakespeare on the Sound as well as a freelance director. She previously worked at Shakespeare on the Sound as Artistic Associate and Director of Education. Claire has worked at the Guthrie Theater, the Shakespeare Theater of New Jersey, the Ordway Music Theater, and the George Street Playhouse, among others. She is also a teaching artist and has taught theater to school students here in the U.S. and has taught Shakespeare in Zambia.

As a member of the Advisory Board of the Nanovic Institute, Claire carries on a legacy started by her parents Michael ’58 and Laura Shannon, who established the Laura Shannon Prize in Contemporary European Studies. Laura (1939-2021) served as a member of the Institute’s Advisory board for eighteen years after joining in 2003.
