Born 1950 in Czestochowa (Poland). After 40 years long career at the University of Warsaw (1973 - MA; 1978 - PhD; 1987 - Habilitation; 1996 - Full Professor) nominated Director of the Scientific Center in Rome of the Polish Academy of Sciences (www.roma.pan.pl). Former fellow of Villa I Tatti, Harvard University Center for Italian Renaissance Studies, Herzog August Bibliothek (Wolfenbuttel, Germany) and Maison des Sciences de l'Homme (Paris); visiting scholar at the Universities of Saarlandes (Germany), Amsterdam (The Netherlands) and Copenhagen (Denmark).
