The Laura Shannon Prize Lecture & Award: "Socrates in Bosnia" with Mark Thompson

The Nanovic Institute for European Studies awarded Mark Thompson the 2016 Laura Shannon Prize in Contemporary European Studies for his book, Birth Certificate: The Story of Danilo Kiš.  A. James McAdams, director of the Nanovic Institute for European Studies, praised the book as “an extraordinarily imaginative book that shows us how biography can provide a lens into understanding major historical crises.” 

Thompson will accept the award and present a lecture entitled "Socrates in Bosnia" on Tuesday, September 27th at 5:00 p.m. in the Hesburgh Center for International Studies.
