The Nanovic Institute is a large, flexible, and international community of students, faculty, and staff.
The Nanovic Institute's current director is William Collins Donahue, Rev. John J. Cavanaugh Professor of Humanities at the University of Notre Dame. Professor Donahue has been director of the Nanovic Institute since July 2018. Assisting him is the staff, the Faculty Committee, and an Advisory Board composed of distinguished individuals from outside the university.
The Fellows of the Institute number well over one hundred and include faculty from over twenty-five departments and schools. They affiliate with the Institute in a variety of ways, depending on their changing circumstances and projects. As a result, the Institute remains responsive, adapting to emerging topics of importance to the understanding of Europe today.
The Institute also hosts Visiting Scholars from European universities and a wide variety of visitors from all areas of scholarly and professional European life.
At the heart of all Institute activities are Notre Dame’s students, undergraduate and graduate, whose benefit and development constitutes the Institute’s abiding and central concern.
