Diaspora: Integration and Fragmentation

Once You're Born You Can No Longer Hide

2005-2006

All of the films that we showed during 2005-06 offered diverse representations of the immigrant experience in contemporary Europe. This was a particularly timely theme, especially because of events in Amsterdam, Madrid, and London, which brought our attention to the multifaceted, fragmented, sometimes violent reality of modern culture. Thus, we chose films that meditated in some way on the complexities of racial, ethnic, and cultural differences in contemporary Europe.
