This opportunity through the Nanovic Institute provided me a platform to develop my understanding of fishing in the Mediterranean, but also offered focus on the issues as they pertain to Italy in particular. After this initial research venture, I determined I want to focus my senior thesis on international cooperation concerning Mediterranean fishing policies and practices. This has allowed me to find a thesis advisor with similar interests, and also to better prepare for the independent research I will be doing during my upcoming semester and summer abroad. I am extremely grateful to the Nanovic Institute for providing such an incredible experience, and for playing a critical role in the development of my personal academic and career interests.
