Opera Notre Dame presents Monteverdi’s timeless opera of politics, power, lust, and rage: THE CORRONATION OF POPPEA. The history of Imperial Rome presented in sounds that are as fresh as the day they were composed. Ellen Rosand (Yale University), author of Opera in Seventeenth-Century Venice: The Creation of a Genre and Monteverdi’s Last Operas: A Venetian Trilogy, will present a talk about the opera at 6:15 p.m prior to only the Thursday, April 24th performance. The pre-talk is sponsored by the Nanovic Institute for European Studies.
