This is the stuff of dreams and delusion. The Quay twins’ stop-motion animates jittery puppets in shorts operate on nearly subconscious level, their abstract, surrealist imagery hopelessly confounding literal interpretations. Shadowy Black-and-white opaqueness and stunningly active cinematography recreate the irrational logic of alluring fright.

Enjoy seven masterworks of delirium: Street of Crocodiles; Stille Nacht I; Stille Nacht II; Stille Nacht III; Still Nacht IV; The Comb; and Rehearsal of Extinct Anatomies.
